North Dakota Pilots Complete “FLY NORTH DAKOTA AIRPORTS” Passport Program
On Sunday March 6th, seventeen pilots were presented with awards for participating in the “Fly North Dakota Airports” Passport Program. The passport program presents awards to pilots for flying to airports in the state as well as attending FAA Safety Seminars and visiting the two North Dakota Air Museums.

Airline Industry Continues to Struggle with Workforce Shortage Issues
North Dakota’s eight commercial service airports posted a total of 80,552 airline passenger boardings during the month of February, 2022. This is a 57% increase from the 51,240 boardings that the state experienced in February, 2021. It is also approximately 14% below February 2019’s pre-pandemic passenger counts of 93,335. Airlines continue to identify challenges associated with their ability to increase flights and capacity across the system due to workforce shortages, fleet availability, and a lack of business and international travel demand.

Hillsboro Regional Airport has been recognized as North Dakota’s “2021 General Aviation Airport of the Year”
Hillsboro Regional Airport has been recognized as North Dakota’s “2021 General Aviation Airport of the Year.” Airports receive this award for excellence in community outreach, facility management, construction and beautification projects, and special events. The award is sponsored by the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission in partnership with the Airport Association of North Dakota, and was presented on March 8th, 2022, at the FLY-ND aviation conference held this year in Fargo.
