North Dakota Airline Passenger Boardings up 12% in July

(Bismarck, ND) The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission (NDAC) has released the monthly report that provides information relating to the airline passenger traffic at the eight commercial service airports within the state.

Commercial airline boarding numbers for July 2023 reached 99,448 passengers, representing a 12% increase from the same period last year. Seven of the commercial service airports also had higher passenger numbers than during July of 2022.

North Dakota’s air travel demand during the summer months remains strong and passenger demand remains elevated as many of the flights departing or returning to North Dakota are full or near full with the average aircraft load factor for the month of July estimated at 86%. As always, it is recommended to plan ahead and purchase tickets multiple weeks ahead of any planned trips to ensure that each traveler has an available seat.

July Boarding Records:

  • The Fargo Hector International Airport achieved a new monthly passenger record with 44,902 passenger boardings. The previous record for the airport for month of July was set in 2019 with 43,437 passengers.
  • The Devils Lake Airport also achieved a new monthly passenger record with 1,032 passenger boardings. The previous record for the airport for month of July was set in 2019 with 873 passengers
