The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission has finalized and approved $81.6 million in state infrastructure grant allocations for public airports across North Dakota. These investments will support critical maintenance and development projects at both commercial service and general aviation airports, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and long-term viability of the state's aviation network.

The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission (NDAC), in collaboration with Mead & Hunt, Applied Pavement Technology, and Marr Arnold Planning, has released the results of the 2024 Statewide Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Study. Conducted every three years, the study provides a comprehensive evaluation of pavement conditions at 72 paved airports across North Dakota.

In April 2025, North Dakota’s commercial service airports recorded 104,271 passenger boardings, making it the busiest April in state history. This surpasses the previous record of 95,181 set in April 2014 and marks the twelfth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger numbers across the state’s commercial service airports.

In March 2025, North Dakota's commercial airports recorded 123,180 passenger boardings — the highest monthly total in state history. This figure surpasses the previous record of 117,380 set in December 2024 and marks the eleventh consecutive month of record-breaking passenger volumes statewide. Compared to March 2024, these numbers represent an impressive 20% year over-year increase with 20,468 additional passengers boarding North Dakota’s airports throughout this month.

In February 2025, North Dakota’s commercial service airports recorded 105,436 passenger boardings, making it the busiest February in state history. This surpasses the previous record of 105,144 set in February 2020 and marks the tenth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger numbers across the state’s commercial service airports. The recent February numbers also show a 9% increase compared to the same month in 2024, with an additional 8,312 passengers traveling through the state's airports.

Multiple pilots were recently presented with awards for participating in the “Fly North Dakota Airports” Passport Program. This program began in North Dakota in 2011 and it rewards pilots who fly to North Dakota’s publicly owned airports, attend FAA safety seminars, and visit North Dakota’s aviation museums. This program promotes safety, continuing education, and encourages pilots to practice approaches and landings in many different environments. This program also offers an opportunity to promote and support North Dakota’s airports and their community businesses and tourism opportunities.

The Fargo Hector International Airport has been named North Dakota’s 2024 Commercial Service Airport of the Year, while the Stanley Municipal Airport has been recognized as the 2024 General Aviation Airport of the Year. These awards were presented during the North Dakota Aviation Association’s FLY-ND Conference awards banquet, held in Fargo on March 4th, 2025.

This surpasses the previous record of 100,617 set in January 2015 and marks the ninth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger numbers across the state’s commercial service airports.

The North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame committee announces that Cynthia (Cindy) Schreiber-Beck has been selected as the 50th inductee into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
