North Dakota Boards more than 1 Million Passengers in 2016

North Dakota’s commercial service airports finished calendar year 2016 with a statewide total of 1,049,457 passenger boardings. This is an 11% decrease from 2015’s airline passenger boarding count of 1,176,043. In 2016, the state also saw 1,053,199 passenger deplanements for a grand total of 2,102,656 passengers that have set foot inside the commercial service terminal buildings of North Dakota over the past year.

Williston Airport launches new website to promote and chronicle construction of new airport

When Steve Kjergaard accepted the position as director at Sloulin Field International Airport (ISN) six years ago, he thought it would be a static, solid three-year experience without much fanfare. "One of my first meetings was with the mayor and commissioner of the city to talk about moving the airport," Kjergaard remembers. Soon, plans were underway to build a new, larger facility: Williston Basin International Airport (XWA), about five miles northwest of ISN. Construction for the $265 million project began in October 2016; completion is expected in late 2018 or early 2019.

ND Aeronautics Commission Member – Kim Kenville Appointed to National DOT Working Group

US Department of Transportation Acting Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs Jenny T. Rosenberg recently announced the members of the new Working Group on Improving Air Service to Small Communities which includes Aeronautics Commission member – Kim Kenville, Grand Forks.
